Criteria and Guidelines for CPE Providers

Criteria and eligibility to be an accredited CPE Provider

1.     Public Healthcare Institutions (PHI) / Professional Associations / Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWO) / Social Service Agencies (SSA) / Institutes of Higher Learning* (IHL)

a)     Organisations should be registered with the Registry of Societies, registered companies, statutory boards, local healthcare institutions or local professional bodies.

b)     For AHP societies, at least 30% of members must be registered AHPs.

c)     For multi-disciplinary associations, at least 50% of members (inclusive of 30% registered AHPs) must be registered medical or healthcare professionals.

d)     AHP societies should not be set up by or associated with pharmaceutical / commercial companies.

e)     Organisations must be able to produce plans to organise at least 4 CPE activities^ a year. If activities are planned on an ad-hoc basis (ie. once or twice a year), applicants are advised to look for co-organisers, whom are AHPC-accredited providers, to run the events.

f)      Each CPE activity must have a minimum attendance of 8 registered healthcare professionals (including 4 registered AHPs).

*Private Educational Vendors require their course curriculum to be reviewed and approved.
^CPE activities should serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance of an AHP.


2.    
Private Healthcare Providers

a)     Organisations must be able to produce plans to organise at least 4 CPE activities^ a year. If activities are planned on an ad-hoc basis (ie. once or twice a year), applicants are advised to look for co-organisers, whom are AHPC-accredited providers, to run the events.

b)     Each CPE activity must have a minimum attendance of 8 registered healthcare professionals (including 4 registered AHPs).


3.    
Pharmaceutical / Commercial Companies

All events organised solely by pharmaceutical / commercial companies will not be accredited unless they are co-organised with accredited CPE providers such as PHIs, VWOs, SSAs etc. Applications and attendance will be submitted by the accredited co-organisers.


Guidelines for Applications and Accreditation

Application to be a CPE Provider

·       Providers should submit their applications at least 6 weeks before the event date.
·       Each accreditation period will be for 2 years.

Accreditation of CPE Events

·       For Category 1A (Pre-approved) events, accredited CPE providers should submit their event accreditation applications online via the Professional Registration System (PRS) by the last quarter of the year, for events that are scheduled to run in the following year. For example, event accreditation applications should be submitted between Oct to Dec of 2024, for events that are planned to be hosted in 2025.
·       For Category 1B (Ad-hoc) events, accredited CPE providers should submit their event accreditation applications online at least 2 weeks before the event date.
·       Details of the events can still be amended after submission. To do so, CPE providers can write to us via email by stating their event ID, title, and details to be amended.

Attendance for CPE Events

·       Each CPE activity must have a minimum attendance of 8 registered healthcare professionals (including 4 registered AHPs). For events under Category 1A, exceptions may be made for smaller organisations/departments on a case-by-case basis.
·       Attendance for AHPs must be recorded at the beginning of each and every session.
·       Hardcopy attendance list should bear the participant’s name, registration number and signature.
·       Softcopy attendance such as timestamps from virtual meetings should include the participant’s name, registration number and clock-in/out timings. If the participants are unable to include their registration numbers together with their names when signing into events, CPE Providers will need to record down their registration numbers separately as this information is required when submitting their attendance online after the event.
·       Attendance must be submitted online via the Professional Registration System (PRS) by the CPE providers within 20 days after the event.
·       CPE Providers are advised to keep the attendance records for a minimum period of 2 years for audit purposes.
·       Barcode scanning of the participant’s Practising Certificate (PC) is acceptable if the CPE provider can furnish the list of scanned PCs when requested.
