Pharmacists working in the pharmaceutical industry work in diverse areas, e.g. wholesale, marketing, sales, general business, research. The following are the various work activities which these pharmacists may be involved in

  • Development of new drugs and novel dosage forms.
  • Research development - from bench scientist to clinical research specialist, conducting and managing clinical trials.
  • Pharmacovigilance - monitor and manage safety reporting for drug products.
  • Manufacturing - work in drug formulation, production and quality control.
  • Regulatory Affairs - work with Health Sciences Authority and other regulatory authorities on regulation of drug development and promotion.
  • Medical and scientific information - work as drug information specialists for the industry or medical writers for medical publications.
  • Education - develop programmes to educate professionals on the use and efficacy of specific drugs.
  • Sales, marketing and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
