Fully and conditionally registered doctors whose Practising Certificate (PC) is expiring on  31 December 2022 can apply for renewal online via the Professional Registration System (PRS) from 2 September 2022 onwards

Renewal Criteria
Doctors who wish to apply for renewal of PC must fulfil the following conditions:

• Met the required Continuing Medical Education (CME) points during the validity period of your current PC; and
• Voted in SMC Elections or paid the fine(s) for not voting. 

CME Points
The CME points required for the following duration of practice are as follows:

Doctors holding two-year PC 
• Obtained at least 50 CME points accumulated within your current PC validity period of which 20% or 10 points are based on each of your registered specialty and/or in Family Medicine; 

Doctors holding one-year PC
• Obtained at least 25 CME points accumulated within your current PC validity period of which 20% or 5 points are based on each of your registered specialty and/or in Family Medicine. 

Online Submission
PC renewal application must be completed online via the PRS. 

Please submit your application online at Login for Doctors & Providers using your SingPass and password, as well as the One-Time Password generated (OTP) via 2-Factor Authentication (2FA). 

Late Renewal
Please submit your application not later than 30 November 2022.  A non-appealable and non-refundable late application fee of $80 will be charged for application submitted from 1 December 2022 onwards.

Notice of Renewal of PC
With effect from 1 January 2016, the SMC has ceased sending out hardcopy notice of renewal of PC. You will be notified via email when your PC is due for renewal. As such, please ensure that your email address is updated in your PRS account.
