Criteria for Registration

To be eligible for registration, the applicant must:

  1. Possess a basic/primary professional qualification in his profession [e.g. BSc (Diagnostic Radiography) for a Diagnostic Radiographer or BSc (Radiation Therapy) for a Radiation Therapist];
  2. Have an offer of employment as a Diagnostic Radiographer or Radiation Therapist in Singapore; and
  3. Be of good standing/reputation/character.

The Council will also consider other factors, where applicable, such as:

  1. Work experience and history (e.g. whether the applicant has been in active clinical practice, professional practice experience)
  2. Registration with other licensing authorities (e.g. National Environment Agency, professional overseas boards)
  3. Passing the National Licensure Examination in their country of training and/or practice
  4. Evidence of proficiency in English Language
  5. Physical and Mental Health status
  6. Post-graduate qualifications where applicable
  7. Passing the Qualifying Examination (QE) if applicable
Only work done as a Diagnostic Radiographer or Radiation Therapist will be considered professional practice experience.

English Language Proficiency Requirement

During the 1-year grace period i.e. 15 April 2016 to 14 April 2017, applicants will be required to demonstrate English Language Proficiency if the medium of instruction in the programme leading to their basic professional qualification was not in English.

After the 1-year grace period, applicants whose basic professional qualification was not obtained from Singapore, Australia, Canada (except Quebec), New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, and the United States of America, will be required to demonstrate English Language Proficiency.

Acceptable English Language Proficiency Tests

Table 1 presents the minimum acceptable scores from various international English language testing systems.

(i) For registration applicants who have equal or less than 2 years of professional practice experience in Singapore as at commencement date and are required to prove English Language Proficiency, the Council will accept their test results regardless of the date the test is taken.

(ii) For registration applicants with no professional practice experience in Singapore and for those who started work on or after commencement date on 15 April 2016, only results taken within 2 years from the date of the registration application will be accepted.

1 Affected registration applicants (i.e. Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists) who have not taken the test and need to take the test can proceed with the registration application first. All successful applicants affected must fulfil the English Language Proficiency requirements as part of their Conditional registration period.
