All Conditionally and Temporarily registered Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists are required to work under supervision according to the prevailing Supervised Practice Guidelines for Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists.

Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists who are placed on conditional registration during the grace period (15 April 2016 to 14 April 2017) are required to adhere to the Supervised Practice Guidelines for Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists (Grace Period).  These requirements will apply throughout their supervised practice period unless there is a change in employer.  Changes in employer may result in prevailing supervision requirements being applied with the new employer.

With effect from 15 April 2017, registrants on Conditional or Temporary registration (where applicable) are required to work under supervision and with an employer or in an establishment which have demonstrated that the supervision systems and structures in place and are compliant with the AHPC's Supervised Practice Guidelines for Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists.

Such employer/establishment must minimally have at least 2 supervisory grade staff in the relevant professions, clear policies for training and development, performance management, peer review structures in place for multi-rater reviews, and a proper system to manage complaints and adverse feedbacks received against Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists.

Readiness Review for Employers of Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists eligible only for Conditional/Temporary Registration

The readiness review evaluates whether an organisation is able to fulfil the supervised practice requirements for conditionally registered Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists as stipulated in the AHPC's Supervised Practice Guidelines for Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists.  The review also helps the organisation to identify areas that need to be addressed in order for the organisation to meet the requirements.

Only organisations which have demonstrated the ability to provide supervision as stipulated in the guidelines may hire Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists who are not already practising in Singapore at the time of recruitment i.e. those only eligible for conditional/temporary registration.  These include newly graduated Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists, Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists with no prior professional practice experience in Singapore and returnees to practice.

To determine if your organisation has the supervisory structures to hire conditionally/temporarily registered Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists, please complete the organisation self-assessment checklist (i.e. Form SF1 B).

Applications for a readiness review can be made using the following forms:

  1. SF1,
  2. SF1A, and
  3. SF1B

Change of Supervisor(s), employer or employment arrangements for Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists under Supervision

Registrants on conditional or temporary registration must notify the AHPC in writing at least 1 month and obtain AHPC’s approval for the changes before implementing any change of supervisor(s), employer or employment arrangements (e.g. change from full-time to part-time practice, rotations to other positions).

Change of Supervisor(s)

The notification of change of supervisor(s) must include the following documents:

  1. The intended date for the changes to take effect; and
  2. An Undertaking by Supervisor (Form SF2) to be completed by the new supervisor(s).

Change of Employer or Employment Arrangements

The notification must include the following information/documents:

  1. Intended date for the changes to take effect;
  2. Name and address of the new employer;
  3. Details of the new employment arrangements (i.e. full time or part time.  To specify the work hours/week if on part time employment); and
  4. An Undertaking by Supervisor (Form SF2) to be completed by the new supervisor(s).

Failure to do so amounts to non-compliance with the AHPC's Supervised Practice Guidelines for Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists and the conditions of the conditional or temporary registration.

Please note that AHPC will not approve the changes if the new arrangements do not meet the supervised practice requirements for the Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists’ registration.

In a case where the change request is supported, a Supervisor Assessment Report (Form SF3) and an End of Supervised Practice Evaluation Report (Form SF4) of the period of supervision completed by the current supervisor(s) will be requested, and these reports are to be submitted to the AHPC within 10 working days.

If there is a change in employer or place of practice, the Diagnostic Radiographers and Radiation Therapists must revert to first month L1 supervision (i.e. 4 hours/week) while on Conditional or Temporary registration and submit a Supervisor Assessment Report after completing the first month L1 supervision with his new employer. The AHPC will advise on the period and level of supervision required after the review of the supervisor assessment reports.

Please note that a change of employer is only allowed once during the Temporary registration period.  A new registration application and corresponding fees are to be submitted for a change request.
